The Peters Children’s Book of the Year Awards celebrate the best children’s books published in the UK across four categories:
- Picture books
- Junior fiction
- Teen fiction
- Non-fiction
Set up by specialist school book supplier Peters, the aim of the annual awards is to highlight books that provide an outstanding reading experience, and to champion the power of great books to inspire children and young people to read for pleasure.
The category shortlists are selected by Peters’ team of children’s book specialists. However, the category winners and Book of the Year are voted for by teaching staff, school librarians and public library staff across the UK.
Timetable:
- The shortlists are announced in December and online voting begins.
- The winners are announced in March.
