Chapter One – Early Literacy Intervention
From Chapter One
Resource type: Catch-up intervention
Price band: £££
Key stage: KS1
Region(s): England, Scotland
The Chapter One Early Literacy Intervention programme provides tailored, one-to-one phonics support for children in Reception and Year 1 who are at risk of falling behind with phonics teaching.
The intervention is provided by a fully trained Early Literacy Interventionist (ELI) who is employed by Chapter One. The ELI works with each child 3-5 times a week in short, targeted sessions that are designed to enable pupils to keep up with the whole-class phonics teaching. Sessions are delivered using an interactive platform that provides access to reinforcement activities and decodable texts that align with any DfE approved systematic synthetic phonics (SSP) scheme.
ELIs work independently but the bespoke platform allows them to monitor and record progress and make notes on their sessions to feed back to class teachers.
Cost: £900 per child with subsidised packages available.
