About Inclusive Books for Children: Inclusive Books for Children is a registered charity that aspires for mainstream children’s books to be inclusive, and for inclusive books to be mainstream. The charity was set up by Marcus and Sarah Satha in 2022. As well as running the Inclusive Books for Children website and the Inclusive Books for Children Awards, the charity also conducts evidence-based research into representation of marginalised voices in UK children’s publishing and provides funding to other not-for-profit organisations working to improve inclusivity in children’s books and access to those books.
Literacy Hive Likes:
- All the books featured have been reviewed by experts with backgrounds in education, library services and children’s publishing.
- Inclusive Books for Children also runs the Inclusive Books for Children Awards, designed to celebrate the best inclusive books for children aged 1– 9 published in the UK.
- The IBC Book Box is Inclusive Books for Children’s book-gifting scheme, dedicated to improving access to inclusive books for children who need them most. Each IBC Book Box contains a selection of 100 free picture books, board books, chapter books and anthologies for children aged 3–11, all of which are hand-picked by experts. The programme is open to state-funded primary schools across the UK and applications open annually from June to July.
