Autumn Literacy Conferences

Kickstart the new academic year with one of the autumn conferences, a chance to hear about the latest research, develop your practice and connect with fellow practitioners.

  • Tes SEND Show (in-person): The UK’s largest SEND trade show returns to the Islington Design Centre in London providing access to over 100 dedicated SEND exhibitors and a programme of CPD-certified seminars with sector experts.
    • Date: 10th – 11th October.
    • Cost: Free entry. Seminars cost £22 (£24 on the day).
  • Future of Reading (in-person): Part of the Cheltenham Literature Festival for Schools, this one-day conference will explore effective approaches to help schools build an engaging reading culture that meets the needs and interests of young people, today and into the future.

  • Great Oracy Exhibition (in-person): Sign up for Voice 21’s one-day conference in Birmingham exploring oracy-rich approaches to teaching and learning, and practical strategies to help school implement a culture of oracy.

  • The Affective Power of Reading for Pleasure (in-person): Join members of the OURfP team and fellow practitioners at the Open University in Milton Keynes for a day of keynotes and research-informed workshops exploring the emotional dimensions of Reading for Pleasure and the role of affective engagement in motivating and sustaining young readers.

  • Festival of Inclusive Education (online): Save the date for the fifth annual Festival of Inclusive Education, looking at ways to create inclusive learning environments that work for all learners. Programme details to be announced.

  • Reading Fluency Showcase (online): Professor Tim Rasinski, Matt Goodfellow and Christopher Such are the keynote speakers at this afternoon conference that explores the evidence-base surrounding reading fluency and comprehension. Learn about the latest research and come away with practical strategies to unlock the potential of every reader. Suitable for primary and secondary practitioners.

  • Raising Generation Empathy (in-person): Hear the latest research into how reading impacts children’s empathy skills, with tips and insights from practitioners about how reading for empathy works in school and libraries at this one-day conference in London.
