Talk for Writing is an evidence-based and research-informed framework for teaching writing. It is built on the principle that children learn best when they first internalise the language patterns needed to write by ‘talking the text’ and close reading of high-quality model texts.
A range of training and consultancy options to help schools embed the Talk for Writing approach is available from the team of Talk for Writing consultants. While Talk for Writing works best as a whole-school approach, targeted support for specific areas of literacy is also available:
- Vocabulary
- Spelling
- Grammar and punctuation
- Short-burst and shared writing
- Storytelling and invention
- Poetry and creativity
- Developing greater depth
Cost: Standalone consultancy days from £850. Contact Talk for Writing for bespoke programme costs.
About Talk for Writing: The Talk for Writing approach was developed by Pie Corbett, a former teacher, head teacher and English inspector. The approach has been continuously developed in partnership with schools over decades and is used by schools across the UK and beyond.
