The Senior National Reading Champions Quiz is a competition that pits teams from secondary schools across the country against each other in a test of their book knowledge.

The Senior Quiz is designed for keen readers aged 11-14 (participants must not turn 15 before 1st September 2026).

Questions are based on fiction titles only and there is no set reading list. Titles referenced in the quiz will range from books for readers aged 5+ to YA titles.

Schools can enter one or two teams consisting of four members plus a reserve for their regional heat. The winner of each regional heat will then go through to the Grand Final.

Timetable:

• Registration opens in early December and closes at the end of January. There are 25 teams per regional heat and places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Regional heats take place from mid-February to the end of March. Most regional heats are online but a few will be in-person.
• The Grand Final, hosted by Mr Dilly, takes place in May in central London.

Cost: £25 per team.
