Writers for Life is a writing intervention designed to increase the writing skills of KS2 pupils who have low prior attainment or who lack writing stamina.
Based on the IPEELL approach and drawing on Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD), the programme is designed to build pupils’ engagement with writing, developing their skills and confidence and empowering them to take ownership of the writing process.
Writers for Life is suitable for groups of up to 10 pupils. The programme consists of three fully-planned learning sequences, each made up of five sessions. It can be used across different text types across all subject areas.
The programme provides:
- Teaching materials, including a handbook and sample text types.
- Training webinar.
- Pupil-facing resources.
Cost: £350.
About The National Literacy Trust: NLT is an independent literacy charity working with schools and communities to give disadvantaged children the literacy skills to succeed in life. The charity runs literacy programmes, CPD training courses for teachers, and provides online resources and tools to its members. It also undertakes research into all aspects of literacy and campaigns to raise awareness of literacy issues.
