The Federation of Children’s Book Groups Conference is an annual event that features a range of talks and seminars with authors and industry professionals, as well as publisher exhibitions showcasing their latest releases. It is open to FCBG members and non-members.

The 2025 Conference will take place from 11th – 13th April and will be held at Monmouth School for Girls. The theme for this year is Weaving Magic with Words.

Speakers and workshops for the 2025 conference include:

  • Keynote Speakers: Jackie Morris, Lesley Parr and Manon Stefan Ros.
  • How to Make Non-Fiction Irresistible with Ben Hoare, Lily Dye, University of Cambridge and National Non-Fiction November.
  • Finding the Magic in Contemporary YA with Louisa Reid.
  • Writing Workshop with Struan Murray.
  • Neurodiversity in Children’s Publishing with Greg Stubbs, Scott Evans and Zoe Antoniades.
  • Empathetic Eco-Warriors in Conversation with Gill Lewis and Hannah Gold.
  • The Magic of Graphic Novels with Neill Cameron, Billy Partridge and Sophy Henn.
  • Weaving Folk Tales and Legends into Your Stories with Piers Torday, Ash Bond and Sandra Saleh-Reyhani.
  • Everything’s Connected: Weaving Words to Make Planet Stewards with Nicola Davies.

Cost: from £280/£325 for FCBG members/non-members for the full 3 days. Single day access also available.

About The Federation of Children’s Book Groups: The FCBG is an umbrella organisation that coordinates and supports the work of local Children’s Book Groups across the UK. As well as events for parents and children organised at a local level, the FCBG also organises the FCBG Children’s Book Award and other national events to help bring children and books together.
