Dorset Reading Partners only works with schools in the county of Dorset. Their Parent Helper training course is designed to support parents and community volunteers who listen to children read in schools. It is delivered by experienced trainers for a minimum of six participants.
Schools are responsible for recruiting and then managing their parent and community volunteers. The one-hour session provides volunteers with an understanding of the processes involved in learning to read and equips them with strategies for offering positive, effective one-to-one support to children of all ages.
