All Reading Mentors hold enhanced DBS disclosure and undertake a comprehensive two-day training programme that covers:

- Building a mentoring relationship.
- The reading process.
- Techniques to increase a child’s reading confidence.
- Exploring a range of children’s books.
- The importance of games.
