Refugee Week is a UK-wide arts and culture festival celebrating the contribution, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Refugee Week is held every year around World Refugee Day on 20th June. Refugee Week 2025 will take place from 16th-22nd June and the theme for this year is Community as Superpower.

  • Schools can download a Children & Young People Pack with activity ideas and links to resources from partner organisations.
  • Explore the resources available to support A Day of Welcome, an event designed specifically for schools as part of Refugee Week.

  • The Red Cross provides a range of free teaching resources to promote informed discussion and help primary and secondary pupils develop empathy and an understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and migrants around the world.
  • The National Education Union has a free ‘Welcoming Refugee Children to your School’ teaching resource with information about how to create a welcoming environment and tips on how to make the curriculum more accessible.
  • The Hampshire EMTAS Moodle has collated a number of useful links and resources for staff working with children and families who have come to the UK as asylum seekers or refugees.
