The National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE) is a professional association dedicated to leading research and debate on the future of the English curriculum, advocating for the cultural importance of English as a discipline and promoting good practice in the teaching of English.

The work of NATE includes:

  • Policy and advocacy – NATE Working Groups reflect on developments in the English curriculum, shape responses to policy and curriculum change, and develop practical advice for teachers in the classroom.
  • Research – English in Education is NATE’s international, peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes high-quality, original research and short creative pieces related to English Education.
  • Training – online and in-person events and conferences.
  • Resources and publications to support the teaching of English in primary and secondary schools.

Cost: From £5 per month  for an individual digital membership. Whole school membership for primary schools, secondary schools and colleges also available.
