The Children’s Poetry Archive provides access to a bank of recordings of children’s poets reading their poems aloud.
The website features poetry readings from 50 poets and there are poems to appeal to all ages from pre-school to KS4. Teachers and children can explore the archive by poet, by age or by theme to find their favourite poems.
Alongside the poetry readings, the Children’s Poetry Archive provides access to a range of resources designed to help teachers bring poetry alive in the classroom. The resources cover:
- General tips on listening to, learning, writing and performing poetry.
- Teaching sequences for specific poems.
- Themed collections of poems.
- A glossary of poetic terms. Teachers can also search the archive by glossary term to find relevant poems.
